IAN

They say all cats have 9 lives. After months, maybe years. on the street, I know the new life Ian has found himself in is going to be his best one ever.

Ian was found outside as a tough, dirty, scrappy tom cat. The kind everyone would see glimpses of and figure that he wasn’t their problem. He was probably too wild to save anyways. Until….

Ian was trapped by someone who cared enough to give him a chance ( his name sake and savior… person Ian!) At the vet, it was obvious Ian needed a bit more TLC that just a neuter and vaccines. His eyelids were turned too far inward towards his eyes, causing constant pain and discomfort. He was matted, his ears were in rough condition and he was filthy. To many people, Ian might have just been another feral street cat. But to person Ian, and to Clear Creek Cat Rescue and to Palmer Vet…..Ian was a cat that they could make a significant difference in the life of, and  without hesitation, they did.

But the story doesn’t end there….it just gets better.

He touched the hearts of hundreds of people. His surgery was paid for in record time. It was so amazing to see so many people reach out and care… about some old scrappy tom cat.

That’s where I come in. I have had the absolute pleasure of being Ian’s foster mom. I had no idea what exactly I was getting into when I agreed to take him after surgery. Was he going to be feral? Could I even give him meds? What about the litter box?

Within 2 days, it was obvious that he was the most outgoing, easy foster I have ever had, even with his medical recovery. He just wanted me to  sit with him for hours, scratching his head, his butt, his belly…he couldn’t decide so he tried them all…at the same time. He loves love….but is super awkward. Poor boy is trying his best though! Then after a few more days, he started to learn to play with toys. Ian was confused at first about the colorful mice and jingle balls….but his inner kitten convinced him it was okay to play, no one would think any less of his mighty tom prowess. And my fear about litter box issues? Unfounded. He was using it while still on drugs from the vet..in his cone.

Ian’s ideal perfect day in his new best life involves; catnip, catnip and then lots of brushing and snuggling. And being told constantly how handsome he is.

He loves his window bed and colorful toys. He has a small, but quite dignified, bow tie collection. But he is still a mystery in many ways.

We know he does not feel comfortable with dogs. We don’t know about cats.

I have no doubt that somewhere, someone knows Ian is their soul cat, and that they are going to be committed to giving this former tom his much deserved best life. Just know that when you adopt Ian, you must also be financially prepared to spend more money than anyone should on catnip and bowties.
